Clarin’s Fall Look

I am beyond excited, I couldn’t wait to write this post. A few weeks ago I rated the Clarin’s Fall Look  set on Dave Lakies blog and won. Dave is a Beauty Editor and Cityline Expert. On his website he shares tips, information about beauty products and he has a weekly luxe giveaway. If you are a beauty enthusiast I encourage you to go and check out his website http://davelackie.com same as his twitter account where he constantly tweets out to his followers professional beauty tips.

Clarins is a French beauty brand and is best known for its skin care products. I personally had never heard of this brand before but now that I had the chance to try this products out I can say. I love it! Check out their website for skin care products and their makeup line http://www.clarinsusa.com

Let’s start with the Clarins 06 forest Palette 4 Couleur: the eyeshadow palette comes inside a Red velvet pouch so elegant and the Golden compact is sleek and luxuries. The product can be used wet or dry. It has a high pigmentation and lasts all day. The colors are perfect for the Fall. I made a smoky look with this palette and I must say, “wow” I love it!

Clarins 10 Ombre Matte in midnight blue is beautiful; it’s a cream-to-powder matte eyeshadow smooth and long lasting. I haven’t had a chance to use this product but I’m excited… I’m thinking on recreating one of my favorite YouTube gurus look. See how that goes!

Clarins 09 golden pink Blush Prodigy: gives you a beautiful natural look of illuminating flush on the cheeks.

Clarins 01 intense black Graphic Ink Liner: the soft felt-tip eyeliner makes it easy to use. I think this product is perfect for beginners. I say to my family and friends it’s like using a marker it gives you a precise even line. It stays on all day.

img_0519
Clarins 05 roseberry Lipliner Pencil: it’s a beautiful color the pencil lipliner glides on perfectly on the lip line. Perfect for a stained effect.

Clarins 754 deep red: Moisturizing long-wearing lipstick, I love it! It has a rich creamy formula making your lips feel moisturize for hours. It doesn’t feel sticky or makes your lips look cracked. It has a good scent and its just gorgeous.

It is truely an honer to have won this fall collection set. I love it! I can’t stop saying it. Thank you again Dave! I had never won on any kind of give away before this one. I’m in love with every single item. The day I did my makeup using this products was a busy day for me and this is the best picture I have. This is my fall makeup look let me know what you guys think.

Sunshine Blogger Award Nominee

Design

I am truely honored for being nominated on the Sunshine Blogger Award by the lovely Victoria.  She is a Blogger whith lots of varied content and some great and honest beauty product reviews, super creative and interesting! Check out her Q&A and give her a follow don’t forget to show some love http://justmevictoria.weebly.com/blog/sunshine-blogger-award. 😍

Q&A:

1. What made you decide to start blogging?

A1: Honestly! I ‘had’ no idea why I  decided to start blogging, not until just a few days ago I was writing down my bio for my Beauty Insider profile on the Sephora app and it clicked to me. The reason is because during the transition unto changing my persona I started thinking, acting, and liking the opposite of what I used to, with that, I too changed the way I used to speak and dress. Now I love the person I’ve become, still working on becoming better though. But I want this for my daughters and the future generations. I want to bring back that Respectful, Classy and Elegant style. I know I might not make a big difference but I might get that little spark going. (I found my nitch!)

2. What’s one of your favorite childhood memories?

A2: My favorite childhood memory is when my brother and I used to jump in-to bed with my parents every morning during our winter vacations and we would spend all day watching movies. Oh how much I miss that.

3. If you could have any animal in the world as a pet, what would it be and what would you name it?

A3: Oh, this one is easy! I would love to have a flying squirrel they are so cute and I think they don’t stink (lol). As for a name that one is a bit complicated for me because I’m not good with names so I would leave it up for my daughters to decide.

4. What is your dream holiday destination?

A4: I would say England but I don’t like cold. I would love to see how it looks during the holidays and feel the atmosphere with all the holiday vibes. I get excited just thinking about it.

5. Which language would you really love to learn?

A5: Ay! Thinking about the answer to this question reminds me how much I’ve been slacking off on my French learning lessons. I only finished my basics which now I only remember maybe like 10-15 words and out of those 10-15 I only know how to spell maybe like five words. I use an app called Duolingo it’s pretty good and simple to use. Shows you how to pronounce and spell the words also how to use the words in a sentence, afterwards it tests you and let you know where you need more improvement. Oh by the way it has a variety of languages to choose from. If you give it a try please do come back and let me know!

6. There’s a Zombie Apocalypse! Do you think you’d survive?

A6: Are they slow and dumb Zombies or the fast and smart Zombies? Aaah see Victoria you didn’t think I would get you back on this one lol. Either or as long as I stay next to my husband 24/7 I do think I would survive.

7. What’s your favorite thing about blogging?

A7: My favorite thing about blogging is of course meeting new people learning new stories and specially the love and support the blogging community has. 💕

8. What’s number one on your bucket list?

A8: Get to the top. That’s my number one on my bucket list. But don’t get me wrong… I want to get to my kinda top not the kinda top that society portrays for us.

9. Do you see yourself still blogging in five or ten years?

A9: I’m a spontaneous kinda person who lives by the moment so if something else comes along I probably won’t be blogging. But who knows I love and enjoy doing this so for now you’ll be seeing me around.

10. What’s your go-to movie/TV series/book/song when you need a pick-me-up?

A10: Book, it’s definitely a book; The Rose That Grew From Concrete is a collection of poetry written by Tupac Shakur. It has been my go-to ever since my teen years.

11. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

A11: If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be in the country side of Texas, England, or Italy.

Independence Day (Dia De La Independencia) 🇲🇽

img_0170

Before I start I want to apologies to my fellow bloggers because I haven’t been active this past weeks, as some of you may know I suffered from a great loss my grandfather past away on August the 29th it has been hard on us.. My mind was blank and my heart broken as I once tweeted. I had not written any post this is actually my first since The Blogger Recognition Award or have read any books (just finished a short read a few days ago) since his last week at the hospital up until now as some of you guys might understand you have no mind or space for nothing else than the pain you carry within. I want to thank you all beforehand for your understanding. Also want to thank those of you who send me your kind words, it meant a lot. 💕

Fun Fact: I’m Mexican and proud.. 😎 My roots are Mexican my grandparents my momma and Dad. I was born Mexican American in Texas (South Texas). Call it Tex-Mex.

Independent Day (Dia De La Independencia)

Also known as cry of independence (El Grito De La Independencia) by Miguel Hidalgo, a leader who fought for Mexico’s Independence on September 16, 1810. Is believed to have made the cry of independence in the town of Dolores, in the north-central part of the Mexican state of Guanajuato to motivate people to revolt against the Spanish regime. He was captured and executed on July 30, 1811 by forces loyal to Spain. Mexico’s Independence was not declared until September 28, 1821. After some Spanish reconquest attempts, Spain under the rule of Isabella II recognized the independence of Mexico in 1836.

Fun Fact #2: My maternal grandparents are from Guanajuato Mexico only different town from where the cry of independence was made.

How it’s celebrated 🎉

It is celebrated with fireworks, food, music, decorations with the colors of the Mexican flag and crowds shouting “Viva Mexico”.

Blog Recognition Award Nominee

image

What a way to begin the week and Complete my first month from when I launched my blog, today marks one month from when I started now I’m receiving my first nomination for a Blog Recognition Award. That’s a good sign! I’m still learning how the Blog world works and I love it.

Why and how I started my blog.

It had been a while I wanted to start a blog but doubt would always get to me then I would over think about it and that’s how I would  always end up backing down. Every day I would run into some motivational quotes on my Instagram feed (thanks to the people behind those accounts I hope they know they are reaching someone every day and giving them some kind of motivation). I first started my blog using Blogger and my blog name was A poets note, two days after creating that blog I ran into Word Press, decided to give it a try and I like how much simpler it is to work on. The reason why I started a blog? This might sound funny but I don’t even know the answer to that question myself haha. I do like reading and writing down poems and quotes. I believe that has something to do with it. I want to use my blog to cover several subjects of what’s going on and also do some reviews, hopefully reach out and help others with my posts.

Who nominated me?

I was nominated for Blog Recognition Award by Paul Mcginley. I want to thank you for nominating me. Paul’s blog has some great info and advice about mental health. Mental health is a serious illness and most of the people who suffer from it sometimes decide to keep it to themselves because they feel they’ll be judged. We need to teach our younger generation on how to be open with their feelings and that it’s OK to feel sad or anxious. Here is the link to his blog check it out https://paulmcginleymentalhealth.wordpress.com/

My advice to new Bloggers.

I know this gets to lots of new bloggers, but don’t over stress yourself thinking if people will like your posts, the blogger community is very supportive to new bloggers. Don’t be afraid to ask for advice and feedback We all started knowing a bit or nothing (like myself) about blogging. Stay true to yourself and It will come out naturally. My last advice is well I actually got this from another blogger (Faye) she had posted it on her Twitter account and it goes like this..

Quick note on the rules of blogging:

  1. There are none
  2. Post whatever the fuck you want
  3. respect the content other bloggers create

Parenting

1st week of pre-k

image

It was the first week of pre-k for my baby. I was feeling a bit nervous for her, reason being is that she’s always been a mommys girl, I really thought I was going to have a hard time because we were inseparable. There was days my mum would come over to pick them up and take them with her all day, when my baby noticed that I wasn’t around she would begin asking for me. This summer I decided to get a job to get a bit of extra money and take the girls out on a mini vacation I worked for almost 4 months and I know that this is what helped her become independent and less attached to me. The first week she would cry telling me not to go work no more and I would explain to her that I was working so I could get money and take them out to the movies, the beach, the aquarium etc.. The next two to weeks she would ask me not to go work no more but I’ve always been the kinda parent that teaches them that us as parents set the rules and they follow them you could say I’m a tough with them.

Two weeks before the beginning of the school year she attended culture camp for a week. Culture camp is just for pre-k students since they don’t know what to expect, during that week they get them ready for the real deal. She was supper happy and excited that the next two weeks she would ask me every single day “mommy am I going to school today?” I swear all 16 days she asked the same thing, at times even before going to bed I was so annoyed already (mommies you get me!)

First week of school, she finally got to go to school for her it seemed like forever. She is enjoying it, she gets home from school and just starts talking about her day at school its like I’m talking to a teenager in a kids body lol when she’s done she just turns to me and tells me “mommie I need to do my homework and you need to help me!” I just think to my self, This little girl.. Well first week of school and everything is going great let’s wait and see in a few months how it goes.

How did your kids handle the first week of school?

Supreme Ambitions

image“Have you ever had an experience where, had things turned out just a little bit differently, your entire life would have been transformed?” -David Lat

I have always been curious about how it’s like to be a lawyer, the law and legal profession is something that interests me, but it is not at all for me. One day going to a book sale at my local library I found a book that caught my eye with a simple, well-designed and elegant cover I couldn’t let it pass. It had been sitting around for a while next to my to-read pile, skipping it over and over again until one night decided to give it a try, I began reading and Bam!

Book Review:

Reading this fine novel gave me a little insight of what it’s like for young Lawyers and the lives of circuit court clerks as well as the nomination procedures for Supreme Court positions. I found it interesting how it gives you an idea of how the appeals process works. I finished reading this book in a few sittings because The book was fun to read as well as informative and entertaining. I then learned afterwards that David founded Underneath Their Robes, a blog about federal judges. He also has a legal website for Above The Law I’ll add the link for y’all. https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/9008450

“To be a successful professional woman, you need to be a little monstrous.” -David Lat

Main character is Audrey Coyne, a recent graduate from Yale Law School. Her dream is to become a Supreme Court clerkship. Getting a position as a clerk for Judge Christina Wong Stinson in the 9th circuit. Where ambitions come with a high price, Audrey has to make the decision that can make or brake her future, compromising her moral and ethical believes.

It is a short review because I don’t want to give out any spoilers. 😉  Add me on Goodreads. Https://www.goodreads.com/Lia_Silva

“When we’re young, overachieving, and unstoppable, we all think we’re special. But as we grow older, we reach a more realistic understanding of our place in the world. It happens at different times for different people, but eventually we all come to terms with our own ordinaries.” -David Latt

Back to school

Ready for back to school?

Back to school ASGJust with the simple thought about it and I was feeling overwhelmed. With 2 girls going to school It felt like I was running around from place to place like a chicken without a head. Is your list complete? As for me thank God it is.

This is how it all went. Ok so my girls are going to separate schools, my 9 year old is staying at her same school reason being is because we have not received the school’s Email that she has been accepted, only my 4 year old got accepted. So My husband and I decidided to give it a try we’ve heard different stories but we wanted to check it out ourselves and let me tell you, I already like it. Why? Well 1st off I really like the methods they use for teaching, my 9 year old needs that but I’m still waiting I know they will accept her if not this maybe next year. 2nd they have “Culture Camp” culture camp is only for Pre-K students 2 weeks before the beginning of school year it is mandatory for all Pre-K students to attend they do this so the kids can learn the process of student drop of and pick up, lunch routine and over all an idea of how school is going to be. 3rd reason is because they have only one store where you could go and purchase the school uniform they have the pants, the shirts, the jackets, the shoes and belts. Also packages and with the packages a discount. Sweet huh? So with that out of the way all I needed was her under clothe and the bows.. So we headed to The Children’s Place I love the store but I am not fan of the style they are bringing in. I got my 4 year old her underclothes and bought my 9 year old pants, shoes, underclothes and a back pack reason why I didn’t get her shirts there is because they don’t carry the color her school asks for not even on line. Once I got to the register and cashier was done with my transaction I received $60 in coupons and a $20 card for shutterfly I was over joyed imagine when I go back using my coupons and my rewards points I’ll probably end up paying for nothing. As for the shirts I got them at JC Penny they had an offer that if you’d make a purchase I believe it was $30 or more you would get $10 off from your purchase. And so clothe was out of the way all I needed was school supply’s for this we waited for a different day. Ok so the day came around where my husband and I went out shopping for school supplies we went to his work place at HEB now HEB is the same thing as Wal-Mart but with better prices and awesome deals, they have an app with a lot of good coupons.  If you are the kinda girl that likes to stock up for next year let me tell you something.. best offers come around right after school begins the pricess drop dramatically on all left over school supplies.

So here it is.. How I got my list checked and out of the way I was thinking it was going to be more stressful with now 2 kids in school and everything worked out just fine. I’m still looking out for deals maybe I can start getting ready for next year. Do you know of any good deals out there? Let us know.
